MA in Advanced Urban Design

Strelka Institute’s education programme evolves towards an education system. Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design in collaboration with HSE Graduate School of Urbanism is developing a joint Masters programme in Advanced Urban Design.

Anastassia Smirnova, Programming Director for MA in Advanced Urban Design

In this two-year programme the students will explore ongoing dynamic urban growth in unstable economic contexts and study advanced urban design methods. The working language of the programme is English. The first admission for Academic Year 2016/17 is now open. 

The MA is based on Strelka Institute’s five-year experience in experimental education and embraces best interdisciplinary and international learning practices in urban design. The program will be directed by Anastassia Smirnova, who served as Strelka’s Programming Director in 2012-2015. The new course will launch at HSE Graduate School of Urbanism in October 2016. The programme will provide formal academic training based on Strelka Institute’s research-based design methodology.

The programme is open to BAs in Urban Studies and related areas, researchers and young professionals of various backgrounds. The program grants Master of Arts in Urban Design confirmed by HSE University Russia.
