Beat Film Festival. Northern Disco Lights

A fascinating story about several teenagers from a small Norwegian town, who accidentally invented a new genre and changed modern dance music

‘Northern Disco Lights’ shows, how almost from scratch in the provincial town of Tromso, a new music genre has arisen. In the middle of the zeroes it had millions of titles, but the most popular were ‘cosmic disco’ and ‘nu-disco’. In fact, Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, Mungolian Jetset, Casper Björke, Skatebard, singer Annie and others try to remember – step by step – how from the late 80's the Norwegian disco scene developed in Tromso first, by the end of the 90's it moved to Bergen and became known all over the world by the middle of the 2000’s from Oslo already.

A special screening takes place in the framework of the Beat Film Festival. It is a documentary film festival which is dedicated to modern culture. This year's program includes 35 full-length movies featuring David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Keith Blanchett, Leonard Cohen, and others. Beat Film Festival will be held in Moscow from May 25 to June 4.
