What can Russia express about itself through its art? (Discussions)

How much "Russian" is there in Russian contemporary art? How does the image of Russia - and the experience of life there - translate through the art which leaves the country? Could we or should we consciously form this image? These questions will be discussed in this round table.

Contemporary art and architecture is perhaps not the most universal language of the 21st century, practically more like a new Esperanto. And still, the various forms of cultural exchange - whether that be national pavilions at international biennales, traveling exhibitions organized by state cultural institutions specifically for export, or simply the experience of an artist's or architect's work outside the country in which it was created - all suggest that art can have something important to say about its geographical origin and the cultural environment in which the artist works (or worked).
