John Gilderbloom. Ten Commandments of Urban Regeneration (Lectures)

Director of the University of Louisville's Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods Program will talk about ways of development and transformation of neighborhoods and their influence on the urban landscape

The improvement and transformation of the bedroom suburbs is an important issue of urban development and the main challenge for urban planners. Green towns and districts filled with infrastructure elements make residents more happy, healthy and prosperous. What factors affect the sustainable development of the neighborhoods? How it can help the authorities and the citizens?

In his lecture, the director of University of Louisville's Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods Program John Gilderbloom will answer these questions. The professor will tell how to end up with a better quality of life.

American sociologist and social critic Paul Goodman wrote in his book "Growing up Absurd": "a man has only one life and if during it he has no great environment, no community, he has been irreparably robbed of a human rights." This premise is major guiding line for John Gilderbloom’s work on creating comfortable life in urban neighborhoods .

Lecture will be held in English, simultaneous translation into Russian will be available.

The event is held within the framework of the series "HSE at the Strelka" with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America to the Russian Federation and Habidatum Company.
