GRAFT: Architecture for the Responsible Society (Lectures)

Architect Thomas Willemeit will speak about architecture that satisfies the needs of a society and becomes a work of art

Architecture is always the reflection of objective needs and functions limited by costs and law. But it is also more than just that: architecture reflects human passion, it is an artefact of its time. People perceive architecture as an integral part of human environment, but at the same time architecture becomes a work of art, the peak of human creation. The cofounder of multidisciplinary studio GRAFT, Thomas Willemeit, will explain how to join functionality, steadiness, sustainability and poetry of architecture.

GRAFT is an architectural bureau, founded in 1998 in Los-Angeles. The specialists of different disciplines work in it so one can find both architectural or design projects and master plans and strategies of urban development in its portfolio. GRAFT BrandLab works on branding development, brand identity and exhibition concepts. Audi, Goethe-Institute, Mercedes-Benz, Deutsche Bank, Knauf and others are among the clients of the company.
