A series of public talks featuring Russian directors, scriptwriters, producers, actors, and critics. They will share the techniques they use to create an exciting story, talk about Russian movies entering foreign markets, and discuss the criteria used to measure the success of both auteur and viewer-oriented films.
- I. Young and daring: A new generation of moviemakers and their success in the film industry
Alexander Petrov, theater and film actor. In 2012 he graduated from the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), Studio of Leonid Heifetz. Petrov starred in Anna by Luc Besson, Call DiCaprio! by Zhora Kryzhovnikov, The Method by Yury Bykov, and Policeman from Rublevka by Ilya Kulikov. He received the Golden Eagle's Best Actor on Television award for his performance in the TV show Sparta.
Aleksander Andryushchenko, film editor and producer. Among his projects are: Black Lightning by Alexander Voitinsky and Dmitriy Kiselev, Attraction by Fyodor Bondarchuk, and Ice by Oleg Trofim.
Moderator:Egor Moskvitin, film critic. His reviews have been featured in Snob, Séance, Afisha Daily, GQ, Forbes.ru, RBC Daily, Interview Russia, Harper's Bazaar, L'Officiel, and others.
II. Public talk with Alexander Sokurov, film director and screenwriter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
His works include Russian Ark, Father and Son, Moloch, and other festival movies. In 1995 the European Film Academy listed Sokurov as being among the 100 best directors of world cinema. Sokurov's Faust and Francofonia received Venice Film Festival awards.
III. Russian viewer-oriented films: Entering foreign markets and film media communications
Fyodor Bondarchuk, director, actor, screenwriter, and producer.He is the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Kinotavr film festival, a member of the Nika National Film Award Academy. Bondarchuk's debut feature film The 9th Company was the highest grossing Russian film in 2005. His projects include: Stalingrad, Attraction, and the dilogy Inhabited Island.
Mikhail Vrubel, producer and screenwriter. He worked on Black Lightning by Alexander Voitinsky and Dmitriy Kiselev, Attraction by Fyodor Bondarchuk, and Ice by Oleg Trofim.
Anton Dolin, film critic, radio host, film reviewer at the late-night talk show Evening Urgant, and editor-in-chief of The Art of Cinema magazine since June 11, 2017. His reviews have been published in Afisha, Séance, Vedomosti, Expert, and Gazeta.ru.
