Lina Bondarenko

Alumnus 2016/17
THE NEW NORMAL
Lina Bondarenko designs architectural spaces and researches built environments in San Francisco, California. She gives form to spatial puzzles in constrained contexts and designs systemic concepts, favoring social impact, diversity, optimism, and optimization.
For Ideo, Lina developed strategies for using public data to inform urban developments that prioritize people. She also researched urban mobility networks to plan physical archetypal experiences with Gehl. She designed Google's flexible headquarters and the cultural master-plan for the Smithsonian Institution with Bjarke Ingels Group; future labs for the Mercedes Benz Museum with REX; and housing with Snohetta and Bernheimer.
Her ongoing research project, Steep Urbanism, explores constructed settlements on inclined terrain, which she analyzes as geographical strategy, urban layout, architectural typology, and anthropological community. She also collaborates on immersive and mixed-reality environmental design with interdisciplinary digital design teams.
