Dmitry's project is about modern situation in Moscow's gambling scene. A law, which was accepted in 2009, obliged gambling businesses to close down and move to one of four special gambling zones around the country and away from the cities. Due to numerous loopholes in legislation, there are still a lot of gambling dens and other venues in Moscow, where it is possible to gamble. Dmitry is looking at this topic from the aspects of sociology (people’s attitude towards gambling nowadays), politics (who and why was lobbying the changes in legal gambling geography), architecture (how locations of former casinos and slot machine arcades changed functionally), economics (changes in the supply chain of the industry) and, last but not least, territory (econometric analysis, which reveals different socio-economic factors that influence illegal gambling the most). He also provides recommendations and possible solutions for improvement of the situation.
